And I was about to say,

Posted under HG

A very long post that I thought about all day while at my Glamorous Waitressing Job.

But.

We have plans to go to dinner with our neighbors this evening as a thank you for said neighbor putting a very large, BUTCH, hitch on the back of my Pilot, (for free.)  The hitch will be used to tow the very BUTCH tent trailer that my wife recently purchased for our upcoming summer road-trip to the Grand Canyon.

Yes.

We are driving to the Grand Canyon and camping for nine days with three children, one of them a pre-teen.

So.

We’re taking our great neighbors to dinner to thank them and we must feed the children before going.

And as I sit here in my out to dinner attire, ready to write a long thought out post, I smell water boiling, (yes, I can smell water boiling.)

Which means only one thing.

HG is making the children macaroni and cheese.

And that, my friends.

Probably means my assistance is needed in the kitchen.

And what would you do with the money?

Posted under Political Soapbox

I was just listening to the Tom Hartman Show.

SIDE NOTE: (Once I met his co-host Heidi in the bathroom at a club, she’s was very cool and she and her husband even bought us a drink, but I digress.)

Tom had a guest, an Oregon conservative named Greg Clapper, who was criticizing Oregon’s governor for increasing the state’s budget by 20%. Mr. Clapper was complaining that he (The Governor,) wanted to spend it all.

Hmmm. It got me thinking.

If your family didn’t have health insurance,
If your children weren’t getting a good education because they didn’t have the supplies that they needed, or were stuck in a class with 30 other children,
If your schools had one of the shortest school year in the country because of budget cuts,
If you had family members that were sleeping in the street, or eating from a food bank because they didn’t have enough,
If your city lost so much federal timber income that the only recourse was laying off police officers.

If all of these things were happening to your family.

And you were given a 20% raise.

Wouldn’t you spend the money?

On health insurance for your children,
On your children’s schools,
On feeding your hungry family members,
On keeping your family safe?

Doesn’t that seem like the responsible thing to do with the 20% increase in your budget?

And the lesbians took over

Posted under GLBTQ issues, Lesbian Issues

As HG and I were watching the Academy Awards last night, first we were having a discussion about how awful this suit was on Ellen.

Then I said, “Wait.”

“Instead of bashing on her outfit, maybe we should take a moment and realize that for the first time an openly gay woman is hosting the Academy Awards.”

And so we did.

And Melissa?

How great is she?
And how stunning her beautiful wife looked.  I wish I looked that good after giving birth, amazing.

~~~~~~~~~~
Now if only we could get Jodi to come out.
Unfortunately, the lesbian extravaganza came at a big price for Limpy and the sanctity of his marriage. . .  Damn gay people.
Date Night
Posted under HG
It’s Friday.
That’s Date Night.
As I mentioned, we are going to a movie and sushi, and I can’t wait. I especially can’t wait because HG lost a bet to me the other day, and the wager was that whoever lost, bought dinner. Woo-Hoo. I think I’ll have three glasses of wine!!!
The bet?
Oh, she bet me that the guy who plays on Medium,
Is the same guy who played on Pretty and Pink.
Not so much.
And I won that one, (which is amazing, cuz I usually don’t.)
In other news. . .
Ginger is feeling MUCH better,
Valentine’s Day is BAD for Ginger
When her human sister, my kid, accidentally, (even though they have all been told twelve-thousand-four-hundred-and seventy-three times,) leaves an entire box of Hershey Kisses on the family room couch and Ginger proceeds to eat almost all of it while we are out to dinner.
Yes, Ginger, (who is six pounds) ate a LOT of Hershey Kisses.
We came home to a dog running around like crazy who wouldn’t eat dinner. We still didn’t know what happened until we saw remnants of chocolate on one of the girl’s bed. I called the Emergency Vet Clinic who told me to bring her right in. Her stomach was distended and she was panting. She threw up on me in the car, (nice,) and when we got to the clinic they immediately made her puke more, (really nice.) Because of her size, she had to stay over night and receive IV fluids and charcoal, (all over her face.)
HG and I picked her up this morning, and for a mere $234.00 my dog seems to be alive and well.
It is yet to be determined if the kid will stay that way.
Several Sweet Hours
Posted under HG
HG and I had a fabulous time together celebrating our 13 month anniversary.  The weather was blustery in Yachats on the Oregon coast where we stayed in a rustic little place with a fireplace and ocean view.  The sea was rough and wild, just like it should be in February and we enjoyed watching it from our room as we sipped a beautiful bottle of Archery Summit Pinot and played cards.  I won’t say who won the card game, no I will not, because it wasn’t me.
We enjoyed a candlelit dinner at a beautiful restaurant that featured a roaring fireplace and a guitar playing entertainer who performed one of HG’s favorite songs.   Everything was wonderful about our dinner except for the food, but even that couldn’t deter from the perfection that was our evening.
There is nothing better than spending several sweet hours with the person that I love so very, very much.  She makes everything in my life brighter and more wonderful and is truly my best friend and partner.
I’m a very lucky woman, yes I am.
Random Thoughts for the Weekend
A dog like our dog Abby won the Westminster Dog Show. Our dog is a bit on the loosey-goosey side and barks her head off at everyone and everything and couldn’t be in a dog show to save her life, but it was cool nonetheless.
Why is it that food takes longer to cook in my kitchen than in Rachel Rays? Why is it that she can make a meal in 30 minutes, but the same exact recipe takes me an hour? Does water boil and meat brown slower in Oregon? It’s perplexing.
~~~~~~~~~~

Immediately after I finished eating the fabulous meal that I prepared that took an hour, I suddenly had a hot flash and felt faint. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t my cooking, after all, it was a Rachel Ray recipe and I am careful about not cross contaminating anything in my kitchen. Could it be the peri-menopausal stage that I’m entering in quicker than I can whistle Dixie?

Yes, I think it could be.

~~~~~~~~~~
I found out today that the local UPS guy knows me and knows where I live. Yup. I had no idea I was so well known in the Scary Suburbs that even the UPS guy kept tabs on me, but that seems to be the truth. See, I ordered some trophies from SoozieQ, who happens to make trophies for a living. And she and I have an “agreement” that every time I’m the Team Mom to one of the DD’s teams, I order the trophies from her. Well, it’s not exactly an agreement, and more like I’m lazy and it’s a lot easier to just order them from Soozie and she makes them up and sends them to my house than it is for me to drag my ass to the local trophy store, pick them out and then later pick them up.
Anyway.
This time, Soozie’s husband, The Hubs, sent my order to my old address. Since I don’t know the people who bought my old house, I went by to try to catch them but they weren’t home. Soozie sent me a new order of trophies to the correct address and all was well. Well, apparently the people who bought my house called UPS to come and pick up the package and the UPS guy looked at my name and knew where I lived now, and brought the other box of trophies to my house.
I’m a little afraid of that.
And now I have two boxes of trophies.
Tomorrow HG and I celebrate our 13 month anniversary of being together. We’re celebrating by taking a mini-trip to the Oregon coast for an over-night at a gay-friendly inn. We’ll have an ocean view and a fireplace and it should be very stormy and blustery! I’m looking forward to having a bottle of Pinot that we recently received from our favorite winery and taking a “nap.” (Which is code for a lot of sex.)
I know it will be a great time.
My twelve year old just lost a tooth.
God, I hope that tooth fairy is on the ball again.
Have a peaceful, fun, and love filled weekend y’all. Count your blessings and tell the people in your life how much they mean to you. Life is sometimes uncertain but one thing is not, that we are all part of this world for a time and here to touch one another’s spirit with kindness and love.
Ciao.
